Rice Bran Contains Arsenic, Cancer Risk

08/27/2008

High levels of arsenic found in rice bran may threatens to call into questions its use as an ingredient in foods and dietary supplements, a new study published in Environmental Science and Technology revealed.

However, nutraingredients.com reported, this is not the first time concerns about arsenic in rice and rice products have been raised, as rice, due to the way it is cultivated, is particularly susceptible to absorbing arsenic from soil.

Study researchers said there is no safe levels of exposure to arsenic, which means any amount consumed poses a potential cancer risk.
