FDA Reviews Supplement Basics

The FDA released a review of dietary supplements reminding consumers, retailers and manufacturers about the basics of dietary supplements.

The review includes the legal definition of dietary supplements, “products taken by mouth that contain a "dietary ingredient," including vitamins, minerals amino acids, and herbs or botanicals. In addition, it references how supplements are regulated by law. Further more, the review stress the importance of consulting with a health care professional before beginning a dietary supplements regime. Finally, supplement safety is discussed.
